Stockholm Marathon

Team Southampton had a sizable entry in last weekends Stockholm marathon. Ten runners and four supporters made the trip to the Swedish Capital to run the 30th anniversary race. A good team atmosphere was generated and with the entire group dressed in matching TS t-shirts quite a stir was made at the airport and on arrival in Stockholm.

From arrival it was clear that it wasn’t going to be an easy race in 25C to 29C temperatures, not helped by a start time of 2pm. Full use was made of the numerous water stations, sponge points and showers set up along the 2 lap course that took in most of the major sights of the city and parks. All of the runners (and supporters) coped well however to put in excellent performances.

The following 2 days of relaxing and recovering were obviously enough to dull the pain as the next trip is already being planned……
