Team Southampton's runners rounded off the Hampshire Cross country league season at the weekend by taking a number of the individual and team league medals on offer.

One of the top performers for the club this season has been Neil Phillips in the senior mens race who produced another great race to come in 4th place on the day and which gave him the overall senior mens league title. His performanaces also allowed the mens team to take a top three finish when they came equal third overall in the mens division 1. Ably assisting Neil on the day were Gareth Keplatz (7th), Russell Osborne (17th) and Ross Fripp (110th), mens team manager John MacInnes (133rd), coach Pete Haynes (148th) and Neil Washford.

At the other end of the age group's the U13 girls team went one better by taking second place in the league with fine individual performances coming from Mhairi-Clair Stewart 4th on the day and 5th overall for the season, Emily Jenkinson 9th, Daena Bennett 15th and Laura Seaman 18th.

In the u15 boys it was Simon Nimmin who ran best for the team on the day when he took a very creditable 3rd place finish. Louise Gates also ran really well to take a top 5 position and Harry Fisher completed the team members on the day with a 24th place finish.The team took second place overall in the league as a result of the fine performances in the season.

In the U17 mens race Jamie Knapp capped a fine season when he came in 5th place on the day giving him 4th place overall in the league. Scott gallant in his last race before moving up an age group came 10th with Peter Batten finishing in 14th place. The u17 mens team also took a great second place finish overall in the league.

A few of the clubs runners also turned out for the Wessex league fixture at salisbury on the Sunday but with the local leagues now coming to an end, a number of the clubs runners selected to compete for the county will look forward to the Uk intercounties at Nottingham on the 24th February for their next tough competition before they start planning for the track season.
