England Athletics U23's: Records Fall

The second day of the England Athletics U23 championships saw two club records being broken.

In the U23 Women 5000m Laura Brenton bettered her mark of 17:59.94 set two years ago to record 17:35.96 at the tape to finish 3rd in her age group.

In the U23 Mens 110m Hurdles Ben Richardson (Pictured Right) bettered Lee Tindal's old mark of 14.64 by running 14.60 with just a +0.4m/s following wind, this puts him equal with Kris Akabusi's manual time of 14.6 set way back in 1992. Although recording the same time as second place he received the Bronze medal though said he wasn't bitter, "I was really pleased that I finally performed in an important final." Ben ran 14.49 at this event last year but that was with an illegal tailwind.

16 year old Louise Webb won the 3000 Steeple Chase in the U20 age group. Webb has also been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Youth games in Ostrava Czech Republic in July in the shorter 2000m Steeple Chase event.
