Winchester Fun Run

E-Mail received about Winchester World Run Day from James Hardiman (21/10/06)

Hi, Runners,

It has been suggested to me that this whole Winchester World Run Day thing is far too serious, and needs livening up to attract more runners!

So, my personal contribution is the sponsoring of the Torchkiller Memorial Prize to the Hash (or other organisation) that fields the largest number of (in)-appropriately dressed hashers on the Winchester World Run Day, on Sunday November 5th.

In addition, you will be getting a fabulous third-world lunch (!), a BRILLIANT run over Barton Farm, out to Kingsworthy, and back along the Nun’s Walk (10K). The 5K and 2.5K runs will be just as wonderful, but not so much rural stuff.

There are also fabulous individual prizes from our sponsors, which WON’T be awarded to the greatest athletes, but will be awarded to those most entering into the spirit of the day.

This is also your chance to get on the telly (with a bit of luck), and to feed starving kids … whilst having a good time.

I would LOVE it if you would send me your entry forms SOON (thanks to those who already have … any chance you could get your Mum and Dad to come and run it, too? Or your aunty …?)

Any other suggestions for increasing the fun-factor (and getting more people out there, running) will be VERY gratefully received :)
