From 1st October 2004 Team Solent AC and Southampton City AC will merge to form Team Southampton. There are a number of changes which will need to be made to this website to reflect this:
E-Mail: The e-mail address is changing from TeamSolent@Hotmail.com to TeamSouthampton@Hotmail.com. Both addresses will still be checked over the next year with anyone using teamsolent@hotmail.com being informed of the change. Note: Every results page on the site contains a reference to the Team Solent E-mail address, it will be too much work for me to change each page (mainly ensuring all pages have been changed), so I do not intend to alter every results page.
Website Address: In the short term the domain TeamSouthampton.co.uk has been registered and fowards the visitor to the (old) Team Solent website within a frame so the Team Southampton address appears in the Address Bar, however the directory structure is not visible. In the longer term the web hosting will be moved to TeamSouthampton so the entire website is hosted under the Team Southampton domain.
Website Colour Scheme: I have used red and blue throughout the website as these were the Team Solent colours, I am not aware of a change of club colours with the move to Team Southampton. The vest colours for instance are remaining the same. For the time being at least the colour scheme will not change.
Use of Team Solent Logos: Small Team Solent logos appear all over the website, a logo for Team Southampton has not yet been developed. I will be using the following small logo until a superior replacement can be found:

Website Front Image: Currently the image on the front page is either the Team Solent Junior Cross Country Athletes or the Team Solent 2002 Southern Mens Team (50/50 chance). This is a potentially contensious issue, for the time being I will keep it the same, I welcome suggestions from anyone or even better - Pictures!!!
Unchanged Sections: The following website sections will have little or no change except rebranding using the new Team Southampton image. Where appropriate it will be made clear where the sections apply solely to Team Solent and when they change to cover Team Southampton (e.g. Photos).
Changed Sections: The following website sections warrant special mention here as they will be reworked moreso than just a simple rebranding
Track Results:
Although the look and feel of the results pages will not change a reworking of the program which generates these webpages will be made to change references to Team Solent to Team Southampton. The e-mail address will also be changed. Full results / AW Output & Graphs will be created as before.
Club Kit:
I do not know how long it will be before new kit is available sporting the (as yet non-existant) Team Southampton logo. The vest will remain the same, the current situation with Team Solent Kit is that it is being sold off, for this reason the page will in the short term remain unchaged to alert visitors to the available range. When the (old) Team Solent Kit is no longer available these items will be removed from the kit page, as new items become available they will be added.
Organisation:
The new organisation has yet to be decided, when the new organisation is decided upon this page will be updated. The old Team Solent organisation will be available in archived form so contact details are not lost. Note that in the 2004/2005 season it has been suggested that an interim committee will exist - obviously further rework to the organisation page will be needed next year.
Club Records:
I do not know what will happen with club records - whether they will be merged or not is out of my hands. This page will be changed to reflect what is decided will happen with the records. From this year onwards records will be kept in archived form so even if they are merged no previous Team Solent records will be lost. Indeed it is intended that the Records will be held in the results database - this will make it easier to assess whether a record has been broken.
Rankings:
Rankings are generated automatically from the results database. The condition of "Club = 'Team Solent'" will be changed to "Club = 'Team Southampton'" in the code so rankings will incorporate all athletes in Team Southampton. The format of the rankings output may change to incorporate additional information present in the database, e.g. PB? / Record? / Splits / Wind Speed, but this will be unaffected by the merger.
Training:
Another area where I don't really know what is happening. I will archive the old details so contact details will not be lost. I will add 2004 / 2005 training details for coaches whose details I know - don't get cross if your details are not on the page - just tell me!
Profiles:
I had a go at updating this section slightly but it occured to me that far more comprehensive profiles are available elsewhere on the web. If there are any profiles which SCAC wish added I would be happy to include an external link to a relevent webpage.
Membership:
All aspects of this page will change - the description of the club; the subscriptions and the membership form. Infact I may take this opportunity to improve this section further as this is the first port of call for potential 'new' athletes to the club.
Guestbook:
This will be rebranded to the Team Southampton image, further rework may be required. I have not looked into this yet.
Results Database:
Currently the Results Database includes performances from all Team Solent Athletes - this will now include results from all Team Southampton athletes. As before the database will be uploaded to the website at least annually. In order for the database to work the spelling of people's names must remain consistent, I am quite good at this for Team Solent athletes but a few errors may creep in with the (influx) of new athletes.
Current stage of development: I have setup TeamSouthampton.co.uk and the new TeamSouthampton@Hotmail.Com. Oh and I've written this news page :)
