The Club was saddened to learn of the death, after a short illness, of Life Member Norman Coupland on Tuesday 13 June 2006.
Norman was a well-known figure in Hampshire athletics having first become involved, along with his wife Jean, in the early 1970’s through his son Neil who was an international distance runner. As is often the case Norman continued his interest long after Neil stopped his competitive running and became a highly qualified and well-respected timekeeper travelling many miles to support Club teams.
A quiet and unassuming man Norman was a good friend to Southampton and Eastleigh AC, Southampton City AC and latterly Team Southampton and will be missed by Officials and athletes alike.
