Dear Ahtlete / Coach / Official
I am pleased to confirm advance details of the Isle of Wight Trophy Meeting to be held at Fairways Athletics Track, Sandown, IOW on Sunday 25th September 2005. Team Southampton are 1 of 4 clubs accepting the invitation - we intend to send strong teams to challenge for trophies in all age groups. This should be a really enjoyable end-of-season competition, including team tug-of-war events! We can select 2 athletes per event, and include unlimited non-scorers. The match starts at 12.00pm, concluding with the tug-of-war at 5.00pm.

U15 Girls: 100m, 200m, 800m, Mile, 75m Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Discus, Shot, 4x100m Relay, Tug-of-War
U15 Boys: 100m, 200m, 800m, Mile, 80m Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot, Javelin, 4x100m Relay, Tug-of-War

NB: Under 17s can also compete in Senior events (limited to 4 events in total)

For this Overseas!!! Competition, the best travel route is Wight Link ferry from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde, followed by train from Ryde to Sandown. Ideally we travel as a Team on the 9.45 ferry from Portsmouth Harbour. There is a Team discount available at £6.05 per child (up to age 15), and £12.10 per adult for the return journey (providing at least 10 children and 10 adults travel together). Clearly families can travel separately (potentially using car ferries from either Southampton or Portsmouth). Unfortunately there is no Club subsidy available for travel.
IOW will refund travel costs for a maximum of 4 Team Southampton Track or Field Officials. Please let me know if you can assist.
Please consider supporting this Trophy Meeting - it should be a great end to the season for all athletes (even if athletes are in their 'rest' period, or begun their Winter training!)
