Winners now determined by membership nominations
|
As you may be aware the format of the Club Awards was changed in 2006 to have two categories, Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Achievement. The number of recipients was not limited to age groups or particular disciplines so all the most deserving members could be recognised.
Outstanding Performance awards are given to athletes who achieve notable success on the track or field, for example medalling at a regional or national championship or achieving international honours. Outstanding contribution awards are given to members who go above and beyond the call of duty for the club, in 2006 this award recognised several athletes who for example turned out twice in the same weekend on more than one occasion or was always the first to step in to fill events. See last years winners Here. This format was very rushed in 2006 with the committee sitting down (in my absence) and deciding on awards based on suggestions from around the table. In 2007 members can be nominated for awards by anybody so long as that nomination is accompanied by the signature of a committee member, a team manager or a club official.
