Why Join Team Southampton?

There are many reasons to join Team Southampton, the most obvious and important of these is increased access to competition but there are other reasons:

• We have teams in a number of leagues catering for the widest range of abilities, giving everybody competition.

How Do I Join Team Southampton?

The best way to join Team Southampton is to contact our membership secretary, Carol Dawkins (Contact Details available on the Organisation Page). She will be able to advise the best training group to join.

Is Team Southampton For Me?

We aim to cater for all ages & abilities and there are lots of opportunities for training and competition.

Training:
Although children are unable to join the club before they are 11 (U13 Age Group) there is a training group for the Under 11 Age group. At a young age children, Under 13 & U15, are encouraged to participate in a number of Athletics disciplines with an emphasis given to having fun. As athletes mature they are able to specialise and excel in their chosen event(s). The club also welcomes senior Athletes, either first timers or those moving into the area, every year we also have a few people from the University of Southampton or Solent University come and train with us too.

Competition:
In 2007 the Competition structure is as follows (This is unlikely to change much from year to year):
British Athletics League - Men & U20M
UK Women's League - Women & U20W
Southern Men's League - Men, U20M & U17M
Southern Women's League - Women, U20W, U17W
National Young Athletes League - U13, U15 Boys & Girls and U17 Men & Women
Wessex League - U11, U13, U15 Boys & Girls and U17 Men & Women.
Hampshire Cross Country League - All Age Groups
Wessex Cross Country League - All Age Groups
Cross Country 6 - All Age Groups

Team Southampton Information

Overview:

A more comprehensive history of Team Southampton will be added in time.

The Club has never ceased to work for improved facilities in the area and has been influential in the upgrading of the Track and Field facilities at the Sports Centre and has also provided trackside accommodation.

Competitive Headquarters: Sports Centre Bassett, Southampton. [Location & Directions]
Club Kit: Red and White Striped Vest with Black Shorts.
Minimum Age: 11 years
Subscriptions: £30 Senior, £20 Junior.

Members: Approximately 200 active members.
