The Automated Scoring System is designed to be used in club competitions to automatically score Athletic Matches. Although pre-configured to handle the 5 leagues which Team Southampton competes in it can be manually configured to handle 2 to 8 teams for all events in league competition. Events can be manually added and output includes grade standards, exact Athletics Weekly output and competitors ranked by points scored.
For more information there is an extensive Help File available. This help file is out of date and refers to version 2.0 of the software, though it is still a useful reference in parts.
Bugs
I have removed many of the bugs previously listed on this page, though I will no doubt find more in the 2006 season.
Download
The main file is called Automated Scoring.zip, the first option.
There are still a couple of bugs to be fixed / improvements to be made but the program core functionality is fine.
| Scoring | Version | Size | Date |
|---|---|---|---|

Help.chm (Contains index and Search Feature) Missing some of the more recent functionaltiy. Apparently for some reason this only opens properly with an internet connection. | 2.0 beta | 3.3 mb | 13/02/04 |
Use
As of 2007 I consider this program too complicated to be set up by somebody who doesn't know what they're doing - that's not a criticism but I have concentrated more on functionality than ease of use - Mail Me and I'll be pleased to help out.
Utilities
In order to use unzip Automated Scoring you will need something like Winzip.
System Requirements & Compatibility
Automated Scoring was created in Microsoft Excel 2000, I have tested it with Microsot Excel 97 and it did not work properly, there was an issue with temperamental sheet protection which I can not easily fix because I do not have a copy of Excel 97. Unfortunately Excel is not very helpful when I try and save in 97 format informing me the "one of my cells" contains "a formula" which can not be converted - debug that!!!
I have also tried it with Excel XP, I noticed that changing cell formatting on protected cells was more strict. If you receive an error using Excel XP then first try unprotecting the sheets. (Available from the Solent Software Menu). I fixed a few instances of this but again it is difficult to test properly because I don't have Excel XP.
